Parcoursup is the single platform through which around 900,000 candidates apply to French higher education each year. Many families approach it with real anxiety, often because they have heard a thousand rumours and very few clear explanations.

This pillar is designed to answer, in the order they actually arise, the practical questions a family preparing the session faces:

  • How does the calendar work, and which dates can you absolutely not miss?
  • What do « expectations » (« attendus ») of selective programmes actually mean?
  • How do you balance wishes between ambitious, heart, and safety?
  • How do you write a motivation letter that doesn’t read like a flat brochure?
  • What specific points apply to students from French lycées abroad?

Every article is written by Catherine Menay, orientation counsellor, drawing on fifteen years of supporting French-speaking and international families through Parcoursup. No miracle promises. No magic checklist. Method, experience, and the honesty to point out the mistakes that come back year after year.
